Job Description:
Responsibility :
Ensuring engineering work undertaken is accordance with
Departmental Work Instructions, Procedures and Standards.
Prepare tender design & documentation for new projects.
Perform basic ship design calculations & prepare basic plans.
Prepare detailed structural drawings & calculations, hull outfit design
calculations and drawings.
Liaise with Class & Owners with regard to drawing & document
approvals.
Preparing technical specifications for shipboard equipment, technical
review of quotations, liaison with chosen vendor, preparation of trial
procedures.
Conduct inclining experiment, deadweight surveys, draft surveys and
sea trials.
Ship modeling and structural design/ analysis using ship design
software.
Follow up with trades and carry out inspection during hull
construction and outfitting.
Perform best fit calculations to support dimension control activities.
Conducting shipyard audits, risk assessment and training as required.
Investigate and follow up the feasibility of introducing new
design/production methods.
Participating in design reviews and taking necessary follow up
actions.
Perform the duties of a Project Engineer if required.
Ensure that the Safety, Quality & Environment requirements of the
yard are strictly followed.
Perform other job related duties as assigned by the section head.
Preferred Competencies :
Degree in Naval Architecture.
5 years experience of New Building/ Conversions - both hull and
vessel operational systems in a shipyard, classification society or
consultancy other job experiences can be considered on a case-to-case basis
Experience in use of AUTOCAD. Knowledge of Ship design software,
FEA software, Product modeling software etc preferred.
