Senior Mechanical Engineer

col-wide

Job Description:

SRP designs and supplies subsea hardware for the oil and gas industry; we specialise in fatigue loaded applications, including risers and moorings; high strength steel components and welding. Our expertise also extends to general subsea engineering, equipment integration, quality control and procurement – all skills developed from our heritage in subsea high pressure riser supply. We operate an engineering and procurement business model: all design and engineering is completed in house using Solidworks 3D CAD modelling and ANSYS finite element analysis; we provide turnkey project services working closely with our network of forges, mills, machine shops and fabricators. SRP supplies welded and integrally forged riser strings at working pressures up to 15,000 psi and joint weights up to 15 metric tonnes. Project scopes typically include detailed connector and weld design, connector and weld qualification, through to delivery of the finished joints, handling and make up tooling. In the last year, SRP has developed a number of novel products, including the Rocksteady subsea mooring connector and Nimway, a revolutionary metal seal riser connector; investment in the development of new and existing products is a primary part of our growth strategy.

Our clients include oil majors, some of the world’s biggest oilfield service companies, as well as leaders in marine energy technologies.  Current projects include:
  •  High pressure drilling riser and stress joints for a supermajor.
  • 10,000psi telescopic joints for a North Sea project supplying a global oilfield services company.
  • Supply of subsea mooring products for a wave energy technology company.
  • Developing new connector designs for high pressure drilling risers, 15,000 psi workover risers and other subsea applications.

The Position We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to work in our Woking office. You can expect to be involved in our expanding operations, creating and developing new technology and developing a growing engineering team during a rapid phase of SRP’s development.

Responsibilities
  •  Interpretation of client and industry specifications, developing engineering calculations and analysis
  • The role will require detailed understanding of the design process, all aspects of the product design and the tools used to verify fitness for purpose (including calculations, solid modelling and finite element analysis).
  • Preparing analysis software runs, post processing, summarising and presenting analysis results.
  • Provide engineering support to the projects team during independent verification activities, including design review and qualification testing.
  • Managing assigned projects or packages of work within a project (for an external client or internal development and testing projects), including financial, technical and schedule progress reporting and expediting.
